Knowing the symptoms of brain tumor

Many people around the world will at some moment in their life be diagnosed with a disease that is kind of shocking even to hear about and if you think that brain tumor is something that could never happen to you, then you will have to first be aware of the brain tumor symptoms to properly detect it. There are cases though in which patients do not exactly have the disease, but they will still get to have its symptoms exhibited.

So in order to know whether you are suffering from it or not, you will need to have your brain scanned.

So, when you will be let in on a brain tumor, you will get to have a lot of headaches and some of them are very bad. Forty six percent of the ones that are diagnosed with a tumor on their brain have exhibited this type of pain. The headaches though are different than the ones that they will get to normally feel from other causes. There are other things that will get to accompany this headache, like sensation of vomiting, more pain when you will get to bend and so on.

If you are a person that has already been through one, then you will need to get in touch with your doctor as soon as possible.

A doctor will have to be consulted as fast as possible, so that you will get to see what is wrong with you. A crisis is yet another symptom that the patients will be let in on and the person that will get to be let in on it will experience muscles, awareness and consciousness problems.

Having a crisis means that the person will get to change her behavior without being aware of this and she might experience problems with her muscles, consciousness and sensations.

The person will have no more control over her actions and may even have blurred vision.

When it comes to the ones that will get to experience a seizure, around ten percent of USA's population will be let in on one.

Vomiting & nausea are yet other symptoms that will get to be the signs of a brain tumor. In fact twenty two percent of the ones that are suffering from this disease will get to mention such symptoms.

These are only but a few of the symptoms of a brain tumor and if you have them persistently and you suspect that something is wrong with you, then you will need to make sure that you will delve into visiting your doctor as soon as you can.

Warning Signs Of Brain Tumor

Despite significant advances in cancer research and treatment, one form of cancer - brain tumors - remain particularly feared, and for good reason. Because of their location, brain tumors can severely impact an individual's personality, memories and basic motor skills, robbing the patient of their very being.

Gene therapy approaches involve the insertion of genes into growing brain tumors, rendering them more sensitive to some chemotherapeutic agents that are relatively non-toxic to the rest of the body. Some promising experiments have demonstrated that with insertion of genes into animal brain tumor cells and administration of chemotherapy, complete destruction of the tumor may be possible without spread of the tumor.

One area showing substantial promise in brain tumor treatment is based on an immunotherapeutic approach; that is, using a patient's immune system as an instrument for cancer therapy. This approach is premised on a body's immune response toward cells bearing tumor markers or antigens. There are many different types of brain tumors. Doctors use a method that is referred to as "Classification".

This is nothing more than grouping the many different types of brain tumors according to the characteristics that they possess. Naturally, each of the tumors that affect the brain are issued a specific names. Acoustic Neuroma is a tumor that directly impacts the nerve that assists in hearing. Individuals that have immune systems that are in a state of malfunction may develop a CNS lymphoma brain tumor. However, individuals that have properly function immune systems have been found to suffer from these types of tumors as well. Typically, these tumors will invade the cerebral hemispheres.

There are many symptoms that may develop when an individual develops a metastatic brain tumor. These symptoms come as a result of the fact that tumors have the capability of destroying cells in the brain, the inflammation that typically occurs with tumors, and the pressure that the tumor may cause as it grows. The common person hears about someone dying from a brain tumor and then questions why the medical personnel did not pick up on this diagnosis during routine physicals, or that the individual had not noticed any ailments early on and sought medical help before it was too late.

Another obstacle that prevents a brain tumor from being detected at any earlier stage in that this medical condition often parallels numerous other stressors of the neurological system. It is very important for all of these factors to be taken into consideration as the prognosis and treatment of a brain tumor patient is directly correlated to the diagnosis.

When it comes to brain tumors, the medical profession does not have a standard system to describe the spread of cancer. Primary brain tumors are usually formed in the central nervous system and invariably they do not spread to other parts of the body. This is another tumor that develops in astrocytes. It grows slowly and has the tendency to spread to the neighboring brain cells. This is a grade II tumor seen mostly in young adults.

Easiest Ways to Fund Research of Brain Tumors

By Rob Sutter

Just because of research on brain tumors can be done does not mean that it comes in an inexpensive way. In fact, without the proper funding needed to back it up, you may not be able to see any kind of growth or changes in terms of therapy. This is where the general public comes in because they are able to raise money as well. Hopefully people see that their influence has a great impact and that they will be able to help this method more than they ever thought possible.

There are many causes which can be helped thanks to funding but the utilization of a brain cap has been a story that's caught my eye. It was told about by the Daily of the University of Washington, in which that very school used the cap and its implementation of electrodes in order to slow the rate of growth brain tumors have. It's apparent that monetary support has to come because of it as well. These stories, and others, should be given focus by organizations the likes of VABC.

Funds for these types of matters can be found in many ways and one way to bring them in is through a bake sale. People who do not desire sugar need not apply but those who can get behind them will pool money into what is being presented. These types of sales have been helpful in cases in the past, cancer being one of them. These treats can not only bring a great number of people forward but I believe that every last cent helps the cause which is targeted.

I am of the opinion that there are musical performances which can be quite beneficial as well. You have to consider the idea that there are many, if not all, people who enjoy music and they want to be able to support the people onstage. I think that even the smallest fraction of the profits can have a great impact on the research process. With so many people engaged in the world of music, this may not come as a surprise to anyone.

With organizations like these which target research of brain tumors, you can be certain that social events are going to occur. People can take part in them and, as a result, money is raised and brought to help the field of research even more so. I think anyone can continue talking about what kinds of actions can help in this particular field. What I believe to be true, however, is that process is not so easily seen unless people take it upon themselves to act.

Can Brain Tumors Be Caused by Cellphone Usage?

By Rob Sutter

I use my cellphone on a daily basis, like I'm sure all others do, and it's not unusual for me to make a call to someone outside of text messages. I never thought much about the impact of using my cellphone because I didn't think it warranted ground for discussion. However, there seems to be a couple of accusations against these mobile phones in terms of a possible link to brain tumors. One has to wonder just how accurate this claim is, though.

A recent news story on Fox News' website told about an Italian court ruling in favor of a business that developed a benign brain tumor. Supposedly, the tumor came about due to excessive cellphone usage at his job, where he had a phone up to his ear for hours at a constant pace. Even though this man's lawyer presented doctors who supported the claims, there still isn't a clear link to be seen. While the World Health Organization said that cellphones may be possible carcinogens, no casual connection can be seen.

I believe that a great deal of the know-how for these tumors worldwide rest on how people view cellphones as the issue. So many people believe that cellphones cause brain tumors, but I don't believe that this is necessarily the case because so little evidence exists. Sheryl Crow believed that her benign tumor came about because of cellphone usage, but even so, there's not much in the way of solid evidence to back her claims. It's sad to say, but even steadfast organizations like Voices Against Brain Cancer state that these tumors can come about through no clear cause at all.

Let's say that there was truth that could be used to back up the claims in a scientific way. Even if this was the case, I would still make the argument that tumors would form solely on how much time you put into using a cellphone, which goes back to the Italian businessman. I believe if cellphone calls were moderated by the users, then perhaps the supposed risk of tumors would go down as a result. I text people normally and I only use call function if I absolutely must.

As of now, there is no clear link to be seen connecting cellphone usage with the development of brain tumors. For many people, this is a good thing because I'm sure that some fear existed for those who constantly utilize these devices in everyday life. For others, however, it may infuriate them because there is still no clear cause for these tumors. I cannot blame them at all and my only hope is that research brings about new information soon.

Brain Tumor Symptoms

By Bradly Hemmingway

Particular areas of our brains control different functions of the body. Depending on the size, location, and the type of tumor, symptoms can vary from individual to individual.

In some parts of the body tumors can be felt, however, because of the skull encasing the brain, most brain tumors can not be physically felt.

Often times brain tumor symptoms occur when the size of the tumor infringes upon nerves or damages an area of the brain. Many times because of the small size of the tumor, symptoms do not make an appearance, and for other reasons, the tumor is found.

Swelling of the brain or fluid build up in the skull caused by a tumor can also cause symptoms to make their appearance. While different people have differing symptoms, there are some common symptoms to look for.

A brain tumor is the growth of abnormal cells within the tissues of the brain. A brain tumor can be caused by many things, and can be cancerous or malignant. Approximately 22,000 new cases of brain tumors are reported each year, with 13,000 deaths occurring. These numbers are greater than 40 years ago because of the advances in medical technology, increasing the ability for doctors to diagnose brain tumors.

Headaches are a common symptom of brain tumors. However, headaches can occur for many different reasons and causes and should be monitored if they become more intense or change in the pattern than is normal for a particular person. As the tumor grows, it puts pressure on brain tissue causing pain. Many patients have described brain tumor headaches as, " worse in the mornings, with gradual easing of pain during the day". Vomiting, increased headache pain when bending, kneeling, coughing, or exercise can also indicate something more than a common headache. Many times a brain tumor headache will not respond to conventional headache medications.

Brain Tumors - Javed Siddiqi MD

By Joseph Kroit

Our Brain is the most important organ in our body. It controls all the functions in our body. But sometimes the brain suffers from particular type of cancer known as brain cancer. Brain cancer is really a illness of the brain in which cancer cells arises in the brain tissue. Cancer cells grow to form a mass of cancer tissue known as a tumor that interferes with brain functions such as muscle manage, sensation, memory, and other normal body functions.

Tumors composed of cancer cells are known as malignant tumors but tumors composed of primarily noncancerous cells are known as benign tumors. Cancer cells that create from brain tissue are known as main brain tumors while at the same time tumors that spread from other body places towards the brain are known as metastatic brain tumors.

Statistics recommend that brain cancer occurs often and is most likely to create in about 22,000 new individuals per year with about 13,000 deaths estimated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Primary brain tumors come from many types of brain tissue for example, glial cells, astrocytes, as well as other brain cell kinds.

Metastatic brain cancer is caused by the spread of cancer cells from a body organ to the brain. However, the causes for the alter from regular cells to cancer cells aren't totally understood. Information gathered by research scientists show that people with particular danger elements are more most likely to develop brain cancer.

Individuals with risk factors, like having a job in an oil refinery, handlers of jet fuel or chemicals like benzene show higher rates of brain cancer than the general population. Other risk factors like smoking, radiation exposure, and viral infection (HIV) happen to be recommended but not proven to trigger brain cancer.

There's no good evidence that brain cancer neither is contagious nor caused by cell phone use. Although numerous lay press and web articles claim that artificial sweetener causes brain cancer. The Food and drug administration maintains that it doesn't cause brain cancer and based their findings on over 100 toxicological and clinical studies concerning the sweetener's safety.

Symptoms and Signs of Brain Cancer and Treatment

Every individual having brain tumors should receive unique and individual brain cancer treatment. The treatment generally depends on the individual's age, general health, and size and location of the tumor. There are several questions surrounding brain cancer treatment. The nature of treatment, its effects, and the long-term outcomes are some of them. Doctors are best equipped to handle these questions.

Overview of brain cancer treatment

Brain cancer treatment is generally complex. Some treatment plans will require multiple doctors.

1. The medical team usually comprises neurosurgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, and a general practitioner. Individuals may also want to include a dietitian, social worker, and physiotherapists.

2. The nature of the treatment will depend on location, size and type of the tumor. Existing medical conditions and age are other factors that need considerations when deciding the nature of treatment.

Unlocking The Mystery Of Brain Tumor Symptoms

Brain Cancer Surgery

Most individuals who have a brain tumor are required to undergo surgery.

1. Surgery helps confirm the abnormality seen in the brain scans. Nature of the tumor and method of removal are also determined at the time of surgery. Surgeons will most probably take a sample of the tumor that needs to be removed.

2. When it comes to benign tumors, most symptoms vanish with the removal of the tumor.

3. A modern method for removal of tumors can be performed without a knife and is called stereotactic surgery. The tumor is removed without opening the skull. MRI and CT scans are used to determine the exact location of the tumor within the brain. Radiation beams are focused on the tumor from different directions. Radiation helps destroy the tumor. This method is also known as 'gamma knife'.

4. Knifeless surgeries have fewer complications. The recovery time, too, is much shorter.

Abdominal Migraines Symptoms, Causes and Treatments

Before surgery, individuals may have to undergo several treatment plans.

1. Administration of dexamethasone helps reduce swelling. It is also a steroid drug.

2. Treatment with anticonvulsant drugs, such as carbamazepine, relieves seizures. It also prevents its formation.

3. Excessive cerebrospinal fluid around the brain can be drained away by a thick plastic tube known as a shunt. One end of the shunt is fixed in the cavity where the fluid gathers. The other end is threaded under the skin to another body part. The fluid drains into a site from where it can be easily eliminated.

How to Know If You Have Brain Cancer

Brain Cancer Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy, also known as radiotherapy, involves usage of high-energy rays to destroy cells of the tumor. This prevents tumors from growing and multiplying.

1. Individuals who cannot undergo surgery are prescribed radiation therapy. In some cases, it may be used after surgery to destroy tumor cells.

2. Radiation therapy is local in nature, which means that only targeted cells are affected. Other brain and body cells are not affected.

Palliative treatments are designed to elevate the comfort levels of the patient. It also helps ease pain. Patients can also explore the field of latest treatments by signing up for clinical trials.
